CV NEWS FEED // Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of the Archdiocese of San Francisco will preside over a “White Mass” in honor of medical professionals on October 18.
The Archdiocese’s website states: “A White Mass, so-named for the traditional color of physicians’ coats, is a way to honor and pray with and for all those who serve in the medical professions.”
A press release from the Archdiocese further related that although the White Mass has come in and out of practice, it has now become an annual celebration: ”In 2019, the White Mass & Blessing of Catholic Medical Professionals joined the Blue Mass, also known as the Police/Fire Mass, and the Red Mass for the Legal Profession as annual celebrations.”
The White Mass will take place at 6 p.m. at Mater Dolorosa Parish in South San Francisco. A reception will follow.
Catholic Medical Association San Francisco Guild, Bella Primary Care, and the Order of Malta Clinic of Northern California are sponsoring the event.
Bella Primary Care, since 2015, is the first Catholic health care clinic in Northern California. It offers life-affirming care from conception until natural death. Patients laud it as a “beacon of hope.”
