CV NEWS FEED // Alliance Defending Freedom, on behalf of several pro-life organizations, has filed a lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James because she has sought to censor information about abortion pill reversal treatments.
“Many women regret their abortions, and some seek to stop the effects of chemical abortion drugs before taking the second drug in the abortion drug process,” stated ADF Legal Counsel Gabriella McIntyre in a May 28 news release about the lawsuit. “Taking supplemental progesterone at that time can often save their baby’s life.”
“The New York attorney general, however, is doing everything she can to deny women the freedom to make that choice,” McIntyre continued.
The lawsuit comes less than a month after James announced she was suing 11 crisis pregnancy centers and pro-life organization Heartbeat International, for promoting “false and misleading” information about how taking a progesterone treatment can potentially reverse a chemical abortion.
James’ lawsuit seeks to remove “all false and misleading claims in marketing materials” as well as “payment of civil penalties for violations of the law,” according to a news release from James’ office.
ADF’s lawyers filed the new lawsuit against James on behalf of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, as well as two pro-life pregnancy centers, Gianna’s House and Options Care Center, which were not among the centers James sued.
“Women should have the option to reconsider going through with an abortion, and the pro-life pregnancy centers we represent in this case truthfully inform them about that choice,” ADF Legal Counsel McIntyre noted in the news release. “We are urging the court to affirm the pregnancy centers’ freedom to tell interested women about this lawful, life-saving treatment.”
The ADF news release added that the abortion pill reversal treatment has a 64-68% success rate and has saved as many as 5,000 lives from chemical abortions.

ADF lawyers filed National Institute of Family and Life Advocates v. James on May 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York.
The lawsuit is seeking to prevent James from targeting and punishing the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, Gianna’s House, and Options Care Center for providing information about progesterone treatment.
According to the lawsuit, it is also seeking “to declare that her actions violate Plaintiffs’ First and Fourteenth Amendment rights to speak freely, to practice their religion, and to due process under the law.”
