Pain-Capable Unborn Protection Act (H.R. 36)

Dear Speaker Boehner

We the undersigned urgently call on you to hold a floor vote as soon as possible on the Pain-Capable Unborn Children Protection Act (H.R. 36) also known as the 20-week abortion ban.

Under your leadership, the House passed a similar bill in 2013 by a strong 228-197 vote.

Voters did not reject the Republicans for their support of this bill. In fact, voters kept the House in Republican hands and also gave them control of the Senate.

Even the Washington Post admits that polls indicate a majority of Americans — including a majority of women — favor protecting unborn children after 20 weeks who feel pain.

A long delay on this bill could hamper the momentum needed to get this important legislation passed by the Senate, where Democrats will use whatever parliamentary tools at their disposal to prevent this commonsense bill.

But a strong pro-life vote in the House will prove that the Republican Party is on the side of the majority of Americans wanting to protect children from harm and women from a devastating choice.

You counted on our vote last November. Now we’re counting on yours.
