Illegal immigration into the US plummeted to the lowest level in recorded history in June, marking a major milestone for the Trump administration’s aggressive border enforcement policies.
According to new data released by the White House, Border Patrol encountered just 6,070 illegal immigrants at the southern border in June — a 15% drop from the previous record low set in March.
“That is less than a single day under Biden,” US Border Czar Tom Homan wrote on X. “As a matter of fact, the total number of encounters is less than half of a single day under Biden.”
By contrast, the Biden administration averaged roughly 155,000 illegal crossings each month. In May 2024 alone, officials released an estimated 62,000 migrants into the US.
Homan said none of the migrants encountered in June were released into the country, marking the second consecutive month with zero interior releases.
“President Trump has created the most secure border in the history of the nation and the data proves it,” Homan added. “We have never seen numbers this low. Never.”
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem hailed the achievement in a July 2 X post.
“The world is hearing our message: the border is closed to law breakers,” she wrote. “Under President Trump, our Border Patrol agents are empowered to do their job once again, secure our border, and protect the American people.”
The White House also confirmed that June saw the lowest single-day total encounters ever recorded — just 137 on June 28.
Meanwhile, recent polling shows growing public support for the administration’s enhanced Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.
