The Pro-Life Generation (PLG) will gather on Capitol Hill June 28 to demand that Congress defund Planned Parenthood and all abortion providers — just as they mark a significant charitable achievement with symbolic meaning: collecting 392,715 diapers, one for every child Planned Parenthood reported aborting in a single year.
According to a press release from PLG, the “Nation’s Largest Diaper Drive” will culminate in a rally and public distribution of the diapers, organized by Students for Life of America (SFLA) — part of the broader PLG network.
The rally aims both to mourn lives lost to abortion and to demonstrate the movement’s tangible support for mothers and families. Each donated diaper will go to local pregnancy help centers and families in need.
“The Pro-Life Generation has once again destroyed abortion fanatics’ old and tired narrative that we only ‘care’ about preborn children until they’re born,” SFLA President Kristan Hawkins said in the release. “Reaching our ambitious diaper goal in record time tells the real story: when we say we’re pro-life AND pro-family, we mean it.”
The 392,715 diapers symbolize the number of abortions Planned Parenthood reported in its 2022–2023 annual report, the latest available when the drive began. Planned Parenthood’s newly released 2023–2024 report shows that number has climbed to over 402,000.
At the same time, the group saw a 13% increase in federal funding. It now receives $792 million — 39% of its total budget — despite a patient increase of less than 2%, according to the release. Adoption referrals remain low, and concerns persist over how the organization reports sterilizing hormone therapies for minors under the vague category of “other services.”
Speakers at Saturday’s rally will include Hawkins, former collegiate swimmer and pro-life advocate Riley Gaines — who is expecting her first child — and Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood executive turned pro-life leader.
“We’re proud to have Riley Gaines join us for this momentous weekend as she champions fairness in women’s sports — an extension of our shared commitment to protecting the dignity of Life at every stage, including preborn children,” Hawkins said.
The rally will be held from 10 a.m. to noon June 28 at Area 15, Union Square, in Washington, DC. according to the release. It follows a weekend of National Celebrate Life events, including a strategy conference and gala.
