President Donald Trump announced in a Truth Social post at 7:50 p.m. ET that the US has attacked Iran.
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” he said in the post. “All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
He said in a following post that he would give an address to the nation at 10 p.m. ET “regarding our very successful military operation in Iran.”
“This is an HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD. IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR,” he also said in that post. “THANK YOU!”
As CatholicVote previously reported, Israel fired missiles at Iran late last week, killing several military and nuclear science leaders, and Iran fired back. CatholicVote also noted that Israel’s attack, as the Associated Press reported, followed Tehran’s announcement that it had a third uranium enrichment site, which was its response to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s governing board’s formal censure of Iran for not cooperating with international nuclear inspectors.
