Dear friends:
American Catholics are excited!
The election of Pope Leo XIV has unleashed a renewed spiritual energy, particularly among Catholics in the United States. We saw this in the over 30,000 “fans” of the pontiff who joined the Archdiocese of Chicago for a Mass and tribute in his honor at Rate Field, home of the Pope’s favorite MLB team, the Chicago White Sox.
In this Jubilee Year focused on the theological virtue of hope, Pope Leo’s leadership is already galvanizing hearts and minds. After his election, searches for how to become Catholic spiked on Google. His American roots, combined with his deep love for the universal Church, make him uniquely positioned to speak to the challenges of our time—and to awaken a new missionary fire among the faithful.
That’s why we at CatholicVote created an inspiring tribute video. In case you missed it:
Why did we create this video?
Because the CatholicVote community is a bold part of that missionary effort. To be Catholic today means to hold eternity in our hearts while engaging boldly in the struggles of this world: for truth, for the dignity of the human person, for the renewal of family and culture. The demand of the Gospel calls each of us to be missionaries not only abroad, but at home, in our neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and the public square.
As Pope Leo XIV said last Saturday in his address to American Catholics:
“To share that message of hope with one another—in outreach, in service, in looking for ways to make our world a better place—gives true life to all of us, and is a sign of hope for the whole world.”
Let us rise to this call—with hearts rooted in eternity, and hands ready for the work ahead.
Yours in Christ,
Kelsey
