A Kansas-based Catholic nonprofit is launching a photography contest about Eucharistic adoration to showcase to the world the beauty of spending time in Christ’s presence.
Participants do not have to have a certain level of camera expertise to enter; Adoratio Foundation instead invites individuals to share primarily from the lens of his or her own experience before Our Lord in the Eucharist.
“Each photo can reveal a story of faith,” Adoratio Foundation stated in a June 16 press release about the contest.
Photographers 18 years or older can submit entries such as photos of adoration chapels, moments in Eucharistic adoration, or Eucharistic processions, from June 13 to July 18.
“This contest is about more than photography — it’s about witnessing the quiet power of Christ in the Eucharist,” Adoratio Foundation President Andrew Niewald stated in the release. He said the foundation hopes the contest inspires people to spend time with Jesus in the Eucharist.
The contest comes during the final stage of the multi-year National Eucharistic Revival, an effort the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops launched in 2022 to foster deeper devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist. The effort has been marked by grassroots momentum around initiatives like the National Eucharistic Congress, which was held last summer in Indianapolis, and cross-country Eucharistic pilgrimages.
The foundation is a part of the international Stars of Peace apostolate, which is based in Poland and also called Comunità Regina della Pace (Community of the Queen of Peace). Founded by lay men and women in 2008, the apostolate promotes reconciliation and peace for communities and nations through Eucharistic adoration.
The foundation describes its photo contest as “an opportunity to illustrate the sacred stillness and beauty of Eucharistic Adoration.”
The contest’s full submission guidelines and the link to enter can be found here. The first place winner will be awarded $1,000, second place $500, and third place $100.
The foundation noted it will spotlight the winning photos on its platforms and stated, “We look forward to experiencing the beauty of Eucharistic adoration through the entrants’ eyes.”
