CV NEWS FEED // On the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, Bishop José Ornelas Carvalho of Leiria-Fatima consecrated Pope Leo XIV and his pontificate to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The act of consecration took place as more than 270,000 pilgrims filled the Sanctuary of Fatima on May 13 for the first major celebration since the death of Pope Francis and the election of Pope Leo XIV, euronews reported.
The evening’s candlelight procession — always the most anticipated moment of the annual pilgrimage — carried even greater significance this year, as Catholics from around the world gathered in prayer for their new Holy Father.
As in previous years, the image of Our Lady of Fatima was carried through the shrine, accompanied by thousands of candles lighting the route.
