CV NEWS FEED // The film “Carlo Acutis: Roadmap to Reality,” based on the life of the soon-to-be-canonized saint, will proceed with its release date following Pope Francis’ death.
The release date was planned to fall on April 27, the day Blessed Carlo Acutis was scheduled to be canonized. After the pope’s death, the Vatican postponed Acutis’ canonization, leaving Castletown Media, Wahl St. Productions, the National Eucharistic Revival, the McGrath Institute for Church Life, and Fathom Entertainment to decide whether to move forward with the release of the movie.
According to a press release from Castletown Media, the creators, after consulting with bishops, benefactors, and partners of the film, decided to continue with the original release date of the movie.
Bishop David Toups of Beaumont expressed his desire for people to see the film.
“I want to encourage all of the faithful, especially our young people, to see Carlo Acutis: Roadmap to Reality,” he said. “It’s a great way to honor Pope Francis by honoring someone he loved.”
Pope Francis previously mentioned his desire for Acutis to be the model of sanctity for young people. The release states that Acutis shows youth that finding the “fullest of life” is through Jesus Christ.
Bishop Andrew Cozzens, chair of the National Eucharistic Congress, encouraged people to see the movie, despite the canonization postponement.
“Pope Francis was inspired by Carlo Acutis and wanted to make him a saint,” he said. “He will be a saint! My hope is that when you come to see this film, you’ll want to be a saint too.”
The film will be in theaters nationwide from April 27 to April 29.
