
CV NEWS FEED // The Holy See Press Office announced April 21 that the canonization of Bl. Carlo Acutis, which was set to take place April 27, is suspended in light of the death of Pope Francis.
The Holy Father passed away on Easter Monday, April 21. He was 88 years old.
Acutis, born in 1991, passed away at 15 years old from leukemia in 2006. Set to be the first millennial canonized a saint, the late Pope Francis beatified Acutis in 2020 after recognizing a miracle attributed to his intercession.
Pope Francis approved a second miracle attributed to Acutis’ intercession in 2024, advancing Acutis’ path to sainthood.
His canonization was set to take place on Divine Mercy Sunday, the second Sunday of Easter, during the Jubilee of Teenagers.
