CV NEWS FEED // Savannah Craven Antao, a pro-life journalist who was punched during an April 3 interview, blamed recent Democratic rhetoric for the attack, arguing that the left espouses violence.
Fox News reports that Craven Antao specifically referred to a CNN interview in which Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, said that Democrats have to be “okay with punching” in order to combat Republican power.
“She said, ‘I think that you punch,’” Crave Antao told Fox. “‘I think you’re okay with punching.’ So yeah — pretty much just describes the left at this point. They’re okay with violence. They’re totally fine with just using force like that to hurt people if they don’t agree with them.”
Fox News asked Craven Antao about her attacker Brianna Rivers’ response to the video, in which Rivers claimed that Craven Antao had antagonized her.
Craven Antao responded that Rivers’ statement was emblematic of “so much of the left.”
“But it is quite a shame that, just because she felt antagonized by me asking her clarifying questions — or that I was just out there with a different opinion and somehow, I deserved or walked into getting punched,” Craven Antao stated. “It’s just ridiculous, but I mean, this is the left nowadays. This is so much of the left.”
As CatholicVote previously reported, police arrested Rivers April 10.
Fox News reported April 8 that Crockett has come under criticism for many comments besides the “punching” interview. At the primarily African American Grace Baptist Church, Crockett criticized the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration because “we done picking cotton.”
“So I had to go around the country and educate people about what immigrants do for this country, or the fact that we are a country of immigrants. The fact is ain’t none of y’all trying to go and farm right now,” Crockett said, resulting in a few laughs.
“OK, so I’m lying?” Crockett added. “You’re not! You’re not! We done picking cotton! We are. You can’t pay us enough to find a plantation.”
Crockett also mocked Gov. Greg Abott of Texas, calling the wheelchair-bound politician “Governor Hot Wheels.”
She later claimed that she was referring to Abbott’s immigration policies, not his disability, according to MSNBC.
Crockett’s statements mocking Abbott led to a March 26 censure resolution in the House of Representatives, Fox News reported.
Attorney General Pam Bondi commented to Fox News that Crockett needs to “tread very carefully.”
Crockett’s comments about wanting Musk “taken down” come amid violent anti-Tesla protests in Texas.
In response, Bondi stated, “She needs to immediately apologize and denounce [her rhetoric] because, even in her home state, violence is happening after she made these statements.”
Craven Antao also noted the anti-Tesla protests as an indication of left-wing violence, according to Fox.
“When the liberals are done with something, they want to destroy it,” she said. “They go and destroy people’s property, light Teslas on fire, put their feces on Teslas. It’s disgusting.”
