CV NEWS FEED // Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed a new law April 3 reinforcing privacy protections for women and girls by restricting access to female-only spaces in public institutions to biological women.
House Bill 264 prohibits men from entering women’s restrooms, locker rooms, changing areas, and sleeping quarters in settings such as public colleges and universities, domestic violence shelters, and correctional facilities.
“Women and girls should not be forced to sacrifice their privacy and safety to activists pushing gender ideology,” said Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Legal Counsel Sarah Beth Nolan. “Allowing men to invade girls’ spaces — including locker rooms, sleeping areas, or restrooms — compromises their dignity.”
According to Nolan, the bill builds on Senate Bill 1100, a previous bathroom safety law introduced by Idaho Sen. Ben Adams and recently upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
She said HB 264 strengthens these protections by ensuring that “girls’ spaces in public higher educational institutions, domestic violence shelters, and correctional facilities are not open to men,” and that “it prioritizes privacy and safety for every Idahoan woman.”
ADF commended Gov. Little for signing the bill and praised Rep. Barbara Ehardt, Sen. Cindy Carlson, and the Idaho Family Policy Center for championing the measure.
