CV NEWS FEED // Pixar’s upcoming animated series “Win or Lose” has removed a “transgender” storyline from one of its episodes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series, set to premiere on Disney+ in February, features a middle school softball team. Each of its eight episodes focuses on the off-field life of a different character, but the storyline involving “gender identity” has been altered.
A Disney spokesperson confirmed that the lines of dialogue involving the topic have been removed.
“When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline,” the spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.

The decision reflects growing concerns among parents and audiences about the inclusion of controversial gender ideology in children’s programming. Disney said the character remains in the show, but references to “gender identity” were removed. The move follows broader scrutiny of Disney’s handling of LGBT themes, particularly in its animated content, which has faced backlash both domestically and internationally.
In recent years, Disney has struggled with the performance of LGBT-focused projects, such as Lightyear and Strange World, both of which featured prominent LGBT storylines and performed poorly at the global box office, earning $226.4 million and $73.6 million respectively. The failures, coupled with resistance in international markets with stricter content regulations, have raised questions about the financial viability and audience reception of the company’s “woke” storylines.

Disney has previously faced significant controversy for its stance on LGBT issues. Former CEO Bob Chapek’s tepid response to Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill — misleadingly dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by opponents — alienated both sides of the debate. In another instance, the animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur was criticized after an episode focusing on a “transgender” character was withheld from release, though Disney denied it was due to the character’s inclusion.
While Disney has continued to include LGBT content in its adult-focused programming, such as Marvel’s Agatha All Along and FX’s Pose, it appears that it is beginning to be more cautious about content aimed at younger audiences.
For parents who wish to protect their children from exposure to “transgender ideology” in entertainment, the removal of the storyline is a victory and a step away from politicizing children’s content.
