CV NEWS FEED // Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley is warning the heads of the Department of Justice and the FBI not to destroy any records related to “unprecedented abuses of the justice system” that have occurred under the Biden administration, such as unjust prosecutions of pro-lifers, as there will be congressional investigations.
Hawley wrote in a Dec. 3 letter addressed to DOJ Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray that he had “received reports” that DOJ and FBI employees are destroying records “in an effort to conceal the widespread misconduct that took place under the Biden Administration.”
“You must immediately stop this attempt to evade accountability, and should terminate any employees involved,” Hawley wrote.
“Under your leadership, the DOJ and FBI have engaged in unprecedented abuses of the justice system — ranging from the criminal prosecution of President-elect Trump to bad-faith prosecutions of pro-life Americans for peacefully protesting abortion, and attempts to recruit undercover informants in Catholic parishes,” he continued.

Americans should know what really happened, Hawley said. He announced that he plans to investigate the concerning actions that have taken place within the past few years at the agencies.
“If your staff are presently destroying relevant documents, then the American people will learn about that too, and will learn who gave the orders to do so,” he added.
Hawley reiterated that Merrick and Wray have a responsibility to retain every file the FBI and DOJ have generated under their leadership.
“You must cease any bad-faith document destruction,” Hawley stated. “And you should prepare for the real justice to come.”
CatholicVote reported in February that 16 Republican Senators alleged that the FBI ordered the deletion of documents related to the infamous anti-Catholic Richmond memo, shortly after the memo went public.
Within recent years, the DOJ has convicted a number of pro-life protestors of violating the “Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances” Act (FACE Act). A number of these pro-life advocates have been sentenced to various lengths in prison.

In August, Texas Rep. Chip Roy said that his office found that 97% of all the FACE Act prosecution cases in the last 20 years have been brought against pro-life protestors.
