CV NEWS FEED // Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against Dr. Hector M. Granados, a pediatric endocrinologist based in El Paso, accusing him of illegally administering “gender transition” treatments to minors.
Announced on October 30, the lawsuit claims that Dr. Granados prescribed puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to children as young as 12, in violation of Texas law, El Paso Times reported.
The Attorney General’s lawsuit requests an immediate injunction to halt Dr. Granados’ treatments and ultimately seeks a permanent ban. Paxton’s office is also seeking fines of $10,000 per violation.
Dr. Granados, whom the lawsuit describes as a “radical gender activist,” is accused of knowingly violating Senate Bill 14, a state law passed in September 2023 that prohibits gender transition surgeries, puberty blockers, and cross-sex hormones for minors. The Texas Supreme Court upheld this law in June 2024.
Dr. Granados’ violations include illegally prescribing puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to 21 minors, with prescriptions issued as recently as August 2024. The doctor is also accused of “falsifying medical records, prescriptions, and billing records to intentionally conceal the unlawful conduct.”
“Growing scientific evidence strongly suggests that ‘gender transition’ interventions prescribed to or performed on children in an attempt to anatomically or hormonally alter their biological sex characteristics have damaging, long-term consequences,” Paxton said in the October 30 news release.

The Attorney General emphasized that Texas is taking strong action against doctors who illegally prescribe harmful gender transition drugs to minors.
“State law forbids prescribing these interventions to minors because they have irreversible and damaging effects,” he continued. “Any physician found doing so will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
Dr. Granados, who practices at Pediatric Endocrinology Associates in El Paso, has not responded to the lawsuit, and court records show no attorney listed for him in Kaufman County, El Paso Times reported.
Paxton has also sued Dr. May Lau, accusing her of providing cross-sex hormones to over 20 minors in violation of the state’s ban, CatholicVote reported. The lawsuit also claims the Dallas-based doctor falsified medical records to conceal the true purpose of the prescriptions. Lau is facing an injunction, fines of up to $10,000 per violation, and the revocation of her medical license.
According to leading prediction website Polymarket, Paxton as of Monday afternoon had a 67% chance of joining the incoming second Trump administration, up from 44% on Friday.
