CV NEWS FEED // The rector of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, Mexico, on November 3 blessed several images of Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Juan Diego, and a related religious sculpture as gifts for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
According to an Archdiocese of Los Angeles press release, the two images of Our Lady of Guadalupe Monsignor Efrain Hernandez Diaz blessed were exact replicas and the sculpture has never been seen before. Monsignor Hernandez Diaz also blessed an image of St. Juan Diego.
All of the images will be part of the Veneration Experience with Our Lady of Guadalupe, a new immersive experience created in Mexico City with the direction of Monsignor Diego Monroy, the Basilica’s rector emeritus, according to the event website.
The Los Angeles portion, which is the first stop of the nationwide Veneration Experience tour, will run from December 2 to 8 in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles at Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, located at 428 S. Mission Dr. in San Gabriel, California.
The Venerative Experience is part of the project Guadalupe 500, which aims to foster devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe in the 2020s, leading up to the 500th anniversary of the apparition on December 9, 2031.
The project’s mission is “to help celebrate the decade of Guadalupe and spark the reconciliation, conversion, and revival so needed in our nation and our world.”
The website also states, “Many Catholics are only vaguely aware, if at all, of the miraculous events of 490 years ago. The Guadalupe 500 Project will address that, and there has never been a better time to plant the seeds of hope and renewal.”
