CV NEWS FEED // Several relief concerts to aid victims of hurricanes Helene and Milton will take place in November.
CBS reports that on November 2, at 8 p.m. EST, the television channels CBS and CMT will broadcast “United Way Benefit for Hurricane Relief,” a concert recently recorded in Nashville, Tennessee.
The concert will feature performances by Clay Aiken, Tyler Hubbard, Chris Janson, Jonathan McReynolds, and Brittney Spencer. The proceeds will benefit relief efforts to aid victims of the hurricanes that ravaged the southeastern United States in late September and early October.
“Paramount Global and its brands are proud to collaborate with United Way Worldwide on the ‘United Way Benefit for Hurricane Relief’ in reaching audiences across the U.S. to help those impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton,” said Melissa Potter, Paramount Global’s executive director of content for change and a United Way Worldwide trustee. “I have seen firsthand how United Way rallies local leaders, cross-sector partners and the community to aid people during times of crisis, and the resources raised by this benefit event will help those in need to recover and rebuild.”
Paramount Global is the parent company of CBS and CMT.
On November 24, a benefit concert called “Soulshine” will take place in Madison Square Garden, according to WBTV. The net proceeds will benefit nonprofits aiding relief efforts in Florida and North Carolina, SOULSHINE Concert Fund at the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity’s 2024 Hurricane Recovery fund.
The concert will feature the Dave Matthews Band, the Warren Haynes Band (based in Asheville, North Carolina, one of the towns most damaged by Hurricane Helene), Nathaniel Rateliff, The Night Sweats, and Goose.
“The damage and destruction caused by Hurricane Helene to my beloved home of Asheville and all of Western North Carolina has truly devastated me,” Warren Haynes said.
He added, “I’m thrilled to partner with my good friends in Dave Matthews Band and so many other musician friends to bring ‘SOULSHINE’ to the iconic Madison Square Garden and help raise money for all those affected by both hurricanes throughout North Carolina and Florida.”
WBTV also reports that “Concert for Carolina,” held October 26 at the Bank of America stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, raised $24.5 million for relief efforts in North Carolina. Country singer Luke Combs organized the concert, which 82,000 people attended. Combs, who was raised in Asheville, called the event the proudest moment in his career.
Combs posted on Instagram, “My goodness, what a night! This will undoubtedly go down as the night I am most proud of in my career. Being able to give back to the place that gave me so much.”
He added, “There are so many people to thank for helping making this night possible on such short notice. My team, band and crew worked so hard to pull this off and I seriously can’t thank them enough…the list is long and if I missed anyone I apologize but you know who you are.”
Other performers from North Carolina included Scotty McCreery, Chase Rice, Parmalee, the Avett Brothers, and James Taylor.
