CV NEWS FEED // The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Pasadena, California is marking its 75th anniversary with a year of celebratory events, local news reported.
According to the report from Pasadena Now, the festivities began over the September 14-15 weekend, bringing together parishioners for various community gatherings under the theme, “The Faith We Inherited.”
The report shared that a special anniversary committee organized events following the Saturday Vigil Mass and both Sunday Masses, offering opportunities for parishioners to come together over coffee, donuts, and light refreshments, hosted by the 8th and 1st graders of the Parish school.
Father Mike Ume, Pastor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary wrote to the parishioners stating, “In 2012, Pope Benedict XVI declared that year as the Year of Faith. Pope Francis indicated that 2025 is a Year of Hope.”
He continued, “This is our year of Faith and Hope. Let us use this year to renew our faith and hope in God, and in this parish community.”
Pasadena Now shared that the Assumption Parish was founded in 1948 by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, beginning its journey in a “makeshift chapel,” and has since expanded its services and ministries.
The parish is known for its active role in the community and dedication to bringing people together through outreach, social programs, and its unifying events, according to the report.
