CV NEWS FEED // A band of Catholic priests went on tour in Texas to raise money for crisis pregnancy centers.
Texas Right to Life reported that the priests performed in Texas’s annual “Concert for Life,” which lasts several days and covers multiple locations. This year, they performed in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hutto, the Irving Convention Center in Irving, and the Bayou Music Center in Houston.
The concerts’ proceeds support Loreto House Pregnancy and Parenting Resource Centers, the Respect Life Ministry at St. Patrick Catholic Church, and the Houston Pregnancy Help Centers.
Band leader Father David Michael Moses started the annual concerts when he was a seminarian. Originally, he performed by himself. Eventually, it grew to a six-man band, all of them priests, “playing original songs that range from rock to folk — and even rap — and whose lyrics speak about the beauty of Life, life as a priest, and the joy of the Catholic faith,” the article related.
Overall, the yearly concerts have raised $800,000 for crisis pregnancy centers.
One of the band members, Father Kevin Lenius, told Catholic News Agency that “the concert offers a vision of Life that is full and vibrant. People get to see that we as Catholics are more than anti-abortion; we believe in Life — abundant Life.”
He continued, “As Catholics, we are all called to not only stand up against abortion but also to stand up for those who find themselves in situations where bringing life into the world can be difficult,” adding that supporting pregnancy centers aided those in need of care for both body and soul.
Father Lenius concluded that he hoped the audience could see that being pro-life goes further than opposing abortion.
“We must always take positive actions to help women who find themselves in difficult situations,” he said. “Above all, I hope attendees can experience the wholesome joy that flows from the goodness of divine Life.”
