
CV NEWS FEED// Gallup conducted a survey showing that the majority of Americans are dissatisfied with the current condition of the United States.
The poll asked participants, “In general, are you satisfied or dissatisfied with the way things are going in the United States at this time?” Seventy-seven percent of participants responded that they were dissatisfied, 21% responded “satisfied,” and 2% had no opinion. Twenty-seven percent of the participants were “somewhat dissatisfied,” and 51% were “very dissatisfied.”
The highest rate of satisfaction in the past 10 years was 45% in February 2020, during the final year of Donald Trump’s presidency and amid the COVID pandemic.
Since 1980, the highest rate of satisfaction among Americans was 71%, in February 1991, during George Bush’s presidency. The lowest was 7% in October 2008, during George W. Bush’s presidency.
The poll is part of the Gallup Poll Social Series, which tracks long-term trends in social, economic, and political topics within the US, Gallup’s website reports. For each of these reports, Gallup interviews at least 1,000 participants.
