CV NEWS FEED// In the sixth week of their pilgrimage, the Perpetual Pilgrims who are part of the four simultaneous, nationwide Eucharistic pilgrimages celebrated two historic Eucharistic anniversaries.
The Marian route pilgrims stopped at the Mundelein Seminary in the Archdiocese of Chicago, which hosted the last International Eucharistic Congress 98 years ago, the National Eucharistic Press release reports.
The 28th International Eucharistic Congress, which took place in 1926, was an important milestone for American Catholicism. It was the first of these Congresses held in the United States, hosting delegates from around the world. It demonstrated a “growing tolerance of Catholicism” in Chicago and the United States, a professor from the University of Dayton relates.
The Marian pilgrims will join Relevant Radio to celebrate Independence Day with Holy Mass, a Eucharistic Procession, a live broadcast of Family Rosary Across America, and fireworks.
Pilgrims of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton route celebrated another Eucharistic anniversary, the St. Brigid 175th Anniversary Eucharistic Celebration in Xenia, Ohio. Pilgrims and parishioners celebrated the anniversary with praise and worship, all-night Adoration, Holy Mass, and a Eucharistic procession. Next on the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton route is a Eucharistic procession and festival in Cincinnati, Ohio.
On the St. Juan Diego route, the Dominican Sisters of Nashville and the Knights of Columbus joined the pilgrims in a Eucharistic procession led by Nashville bishop, the Most Reverend Joseph Spalding. On July 4, these pilgrims will process 4.5 miles to the Abbey of Gethsemani near New Haven, Kentucky.
The St. Junipero Serra pilgrims hiked 21 miles this past week, processing with Our Eucharistic Lord along the Katy Trail in Missouri, testifying to the True Presence of Our Lord to tourists and locals alike. On July 7, they will join Archbishop Rozanski for mass at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis in St. Louis, Missouri, the press release states.
