CV NEWS FEED // Catholic Apologist Trent Horn this week went toe-to-toe with a pro-abortion activist who went after the pro-life movement on social media.
Horn has three master’s degrees in theology, philosophy, and bioethics and serves as a staff writer for Catholic Answers. The outspoken apologist is also the host of the podcast The Counsel of Trent.
“Hey, ‘pro-lifers,’” the pro-abortion account “Michelle” initially posted on X:
The next time a BABY needs a kidney, and YOU have the perfect match, we’re going to FORCE you to give up a kidney. If you refuse, that’s MURDER, and we’ll put you in prison. Maybe even give you the death penalty. Don’t you want to “save babies”?
In a series of posts, Horn debunked “Michelle’s” argument.
“Abortion isn’t like refraining from donating a kidney,” he began:
(That’s a permissible choice to not save a dying person) Abortion is instead like donating a kidney and then dismembering the recipient to get it back. (That’s an evil choice to directly kill an innocent person).”
“And in the case of rape, it would be like if someone stole your kidney and put it in the body of an innocent person who needed a kidney,” Horn continued. “What happened to you is tragic, but that wouldn’t justify dismembering an innocent person in response.”
“Finally my kidney is for filtering my blood. No one else has a natural right to it,” Horn added. “But the uterus, like mammary glands, are for sustaining the life of a small child. If a mother’s breastmilk or womb is the only thing that can sustain her child, then the child has a right to them.”
Horn’s thread has since received over 30 thousand views and 793 “likes.” Readers can read it and the discussions it initiated by clicking here.
