CV News Feed // Crisis Pregnancy Centers in California have found in recent years that an increasing number of women come to them seeking abortion reversal pills, according to a recent Pregnancy Help News article.
One clinic, Horizon Pregnancy Center, said that it has been offering the procedure for the past four years and has assisted over 50 women seeking the procedure. The clinic reports that it has saved over 30 babies.
“California continues to lead the way in mifepristone reversal,” said Christa Brown, senior director of medical impact at Heartbeat International, which manages the Abortion Pill Reversal Network (APRN). “We are thankful for clinics like Horizon Pregnancy Clinic who provide choices for women who have started an abortion but want to continue their pregnancies.”
Abortion reversal pills are a series of progesterone and other drugs that a patient uses after previously taking abortion-inducing pills to reverse its effects.
Drug-induced abortions have become increasingly popular in recent years, especially after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. More and more states and pregnancy centers are seeing women coming to them for abortion reversal drugs.
The state of California attempted to block pregnancy resource centers from sharing information about this procedure through a lawsuit last year. The lawsuit attempted to ban pregnancy centers from distributing information regarding abortion pills.
The lawsuit was defeated, and in response, pregnancy resource centers began looking at other ways to better promote their life-saving care.
“Every woman should have the information she needs to make the healthiest choice for everyone involved in an unexpected pregnancy,” Brown said.
The Horizon clinic purchased a van and turned it into a mobile unit, allowing volunteers to reach more women on the streets and promote the pro-life cause.
After it opened its mobile unit, Executive Director of Horizon Debra Tous said that they noticed a particular need in an area, so they were able to receive the funds to build a new clinic there.
“We had been taking our mobile there for about five years, so we knew it was a good location,” Tous said. “The spot we took over had been a pregnancy center, so the build-out was very easy. God blessed us; He ordained us to be in that spot.”
Through these doors opening, the Horizon clinic has been able to save lives and promote pro-life values as the state of California continues to promote abortion and the use of abortion pills.
