Illinois Right to Life is launching a statewide campaign to spotlight what it calls the most urgent threats to life in Illinois.
As part of the tour’s launch, Program Director Sarah Michalak will speak at the August 1 “Pray for America and Life” rally at the Grotto on the Our Lady of Sorrows Convent Grounds in Oak Forest. Organizers say the event aims to unite communities in defense of faith, family, and the unborn.
“Come pray, connect, and stand united for life in Illinois,” the group said in an emailed press release. “Let’s lift up our nation and the most vulnerable among us — together.”
The tour comes amid a wave of new pro-abortion measures in Illinois.
As CatholicVote reported last month, a Chicago facility recently began offering third-trimester abortions — making Illinois one of the few states where unborn children can be killed up to 34 weeks. In May, lawmakers advanced a bill that would require public universities to promote and distribute chemical abortion pills.
Founded in 1968 by doctors and lawyers alarmed by the spread of abortion, Illinois Right to Life has become one of the state’s leading pro-life organizations. According to its website, the group co-organizes the Illinois March for Life, lobbies lawmakers in Springfield, and provides financial aid to pregnant women in crisis.
