In response to the widespread flooding in Texas, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, (CCDBR) Louisiana, has announced a one-day donation drive set for July 17.
The campaign will collect funds and gift cards to support families and communities hit hardest by the disaster, according to the diocese.
The donation event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Catholic Charities office located at 1900 S. Acadian Thruway in Baton Rouge. The organization is specifically requesting $25 Visa or Walmart gift cards, as well as monetary donations of any amount.
“We’ve been in touch with Catholic Charities agencies serving the impacted area, and the greatest need right now is monetary donations and gift cards,” said Stephanie Sterling, CCDBR executive director. “The devastation this flooding has caused is staggering, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to help our neighbors in Texas.”
Once collected, the donations will be shipped to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, where local teams will distribute the resources directly to flood victims.
For those unable to participate in person, online donations can be made through the diocesan charity’s website.
