Celebrities routinely praise abortion and abortion providers, like Planned Parenthood, to their millions of fans. But their narrative is constantly being challenged by other, more powerful testimonies – stories of stars alive today because their mothers refused abortion and chose life.
In a July 12 video, Jason Jones, a pro-life advocate and film producer, named the latest star to reveal that his life almost ended in an abortion. While on travel for work, Jones found out about the celebrity’s story from his 12-year-old son who called him to say, “Dad, you won’t believe it! Ninja almost died.”
28-year-old Richard Tyler Blevins, also known as “Ninja,” is a professional gamer famous for playing video games like Fortnite. His net worth is $10 million and, on YouTube alone, he boasts more than 22 million followers. His livestream videos on Twitch attract hundreds of thousands of views.
Ninja publicized his close call with abortion while reminiscing about his birthday on June 5, Jones said. The gamer began sharing his story by telling his millions of followers that, “For those of you guys who don’t know, I was not supposed to be born potentially.”
That’s largely because of prenatal diagnoses.
“A lot of the doctors told my Mom that I had spina bifida or Down syndrome or a number of diseases and that I should be aborted,” Ninja added.
But his mother responded with a “no,” and “fast forward, you know, nine months after that, and I was born, perfect, you know, nothing wrong with me,” Ninja stressed. “My mom is a saint and an angel and I love her to death.”
Still, the thought of nonexistence troubled him.
“Imagine what would’ve happened if she listened, you know, to one of those doctors or one of those people,” he said. “You guys wouldn’t be here. No one would be in this room watching.”
And, with those few simple words, Ninja concluded his personal story – a pro-life message – shared with the gaming community. Jones commended him for it.
“If you’re in the pro-life movement, you know it isn’t always easy,” Jones said, but Ninja’s story serves as a “reminder that can give us all hope.”
Jones pointed to other stars who are alive today because their mothers rejected abortion.
Rapper Nick Cannon’s mother planned to abort him when she was 17. He later wrote a song to her in gratitude.
Actor Jack Nicholson is also pro-life after his teen mom chose life for him.
In a 1984 interview, Nicholson expressed, “I’m very contra my constituency in terms of abortion because I’m positively against it. I don’t have the right to any other view.”
“My only emotion is gratitude, literally, for my life,” he added.
Other celebrities with close calls with abortion include singer Justin Bieber, who said in a 2011 interview that “I really don’t believe in abortion” which is “like killing a baby.” Rapper Cardi B, who opened up about rejecting abortion for her baby in 2018. Eminem, who sang about abortion regret that same year. And Nicki Minaj, who in a 2014 interview admitted her abortion has “haunted” her throughout her life.
Ninja’s story adds to these others while urging that each and every life is beautiful and worth living.
