SUPREME COURT AND ABORTION The abortion lobby is asking the Supreme Court to stop a pro-life Louisiana law from taking affect next week. The Supreme Court ruled in 2016 that a similar Texas law was unconstitutional, but that was decided before Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh joined the bench. The law requires abortionists to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of their clinic. READ |

NEW YORK, THEN RHODE ISLAND? New York recently passed a new pro-abortion law. Now Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo wants to be next. Raimondo, who claims to be Catholic, said: “Let’s make this the year we codify women’s access to reproductive health care here in Rhode Island,” she said. The legislative push to codify abortion in state law comes as Democrats get nervous that the new majority on the Supreme Court could begin rolling back legal abortion. READ |

VIRGINIA, TOO? Lawmakers in Virginia are considering a bill to allow women to abortion their unborn child until the moment the baby is born. Under current Virginia law, three physicians must conclude that a third-trimester abortion is “necessary” to preserve the health of the mother. The new legislation would eliminate that requirement. Once solidly Republican, Virginia has transformed into a Democratic stronghold over the last 10 years, in large measure because of the growing number of federal employees. READ |
