ASSISTED SUICIDE STOPPED Great news: A bill to legalize physician-assisted suicide in Massachusetts has died. Anne Fox of Massachusetts Citizens for Life said that doctor-prescribed suicide “threatens every one of us by encouraging utilitarian judgments and actions on the part of the medical profession and insurance companies.” READ |
ASSISTED SUICIDE IN HAWAII The Hawaii House already passed a bill to legalize physician assisted suicide. The bill is now moving through the Hawaii Senate, which has 25 Democrats and 0 Republicans (not a typo!) Honolulu Bishop Larry Silva wrote an op-ed for the Honolulu’s largest newspaper: “Until now, we have prided ourselves on helping people not take their lives. We have suicide prevention programs and hotlines, and have always considered suicide a tragedy that wreaks havoc on so many survivors who feel grief.” READ |
