ILLINOIS ELECTION TODAY  Republicans in Illinois might just fire their governor in their own party primary. Gov. Bruce Rauner last year signed into law a bill forcing taxpayers to pay for abortions. Pro-life Jeanne Ives is within striking distance. READ
DEMS ATTACK HYDE AMENDMENT  There is broad bipartisan agreement to provide some aid in order to stabilize heath care insurance. But Democrats are trying to launch an attack on the pro-life Hyde Amendment in the bill. Republicans charge that Democrats are just using that fight as an excuse and that they want the bill to fail so they can blame rising Obamacare premiums on the Republicans. READ
SUPREME COURT TODAY  Justices at the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a case with major implications. At issue: Can the state compel an organization to proclaim a message that is the antithesis of everything it believes? Under review is California’s law requiring crisis pregnancy centers to provide information on abortion. READ
WORRIES OVER ‘DEEP STATE’  72% of Republicans believe the “deep state” probably exists. Among Democrats? It’s also 72%. The Monmouth Poll defined the deep state as “a group of unelected government and military officials who secretly manipulate or direct national policy.” READ
DIGITAL SUPREMACY  Liberals are vowing to alter social media so that it can’t be used again for political victories like Brexit or Trump’s 2016 presidential run. “You can see the dynamic in the way that the media generates a moral panic out of stories about how Brexit and the Trump election happened,” writes Michael Dougherty. READ
PRO-LIFE MISSISSIPPI  Gov. Phil Bryant signed a bill to protect unborn children at 15 weeks. “As I have repeatedly said, I want Mississippi to be the safest place in American for an unborn child,” said Gov. Bryant. READ

    What does Cynthia Nixon being “openly gay” have to do with anything? I only ask because you didn’t note that Gov. Rauner and Jeanne Ives are openly heterosexual. Is sexual orientation important to elected office?
