June is the month when Catholics honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and one group is seeking to spread the devotion in homes throughout the country.
The Sacred Heart Enthronement Network, a non-profit based in Columbus, OH, has a new campaign, the Sacred Heart Revival. Their goal is 50,000 enthronements this year. “Today, more than ever, our families, our businesses, and our schools need the graces of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,” according to the campaign website.
“Enthronement to the Sacred Heart is a fulfillment of a request Jesus made to St. Margaret Mary in the 1670s when He said, ‘I will bless every place in which an image of my Heart is exposed and honored,” the network explains.
The website provides resources to help Catholics enthrone the Sacred Heart in their homes, schools, workplaces, and parishes.
CatholicVote spoke with the organization’s executive director, Emily Jaminet. A mother of seven, Jaminet took on the role in 2018. Her most recent book, Holy Habits from the Sacred Heart: Ten Ways to Build Stronger, More Loving Relationships came out in April 2023.
Jaminet told CatholicVote that the image in the home is a “holy reminder,” but also that enthronement serves as a way of welcoming grace into our lives. She referred to the Sacred Heart devotion as The Devotion, citing its Christocentricity. Jaminet told CatholicVote that the overturning of Roe v. Wade on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart in 2022 “lit a fire” in her, demonstrating “that the work I’m doing is significant in changing culture.”
