At least three Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were killed in an explosion July 18 at the Biscailuz Training Academy in east Los Angeles, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The explosion occurred around 7:30 a.m. PT and shattered several vehicle windows, ABC 7 News reported.
Authorities have not yet identified the cause, and the Sheriff’s Department classified it as a “critical workplace incident.” Homicide detectives are on scene investigating.
Attorney General Pam Bondi said on X that federal agents were also on the scene and “are working to learn more.” She urged Americans to pray for the victims’ families.
Bondi later confirmed that the FBI; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the Los Angeles Fire Department’s arson counterterrorism unit joined the investigation.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem said DHS is also responding to the incident.
This is a developing story and subject to updates.
